residentialthe street lyng, as featured on channel 4: the perfect home, with alan de bottonthe street the project is organised around a courtyard garden from which all spaces extend into such that the ground level can be understood as one space. the sliding screens can be pulled open so that the space becomes one volume extending from the interior to the exterior without any boundary. surface materials flow between spaces drawing on japanese concept of landscape and interior. externally the form expresses the interior function with simple clarity. the manifestation of materiality draws on the contextualism of the conservation area, but reinterprets the manner with which pieces become a whole in a contemporary fashion. the fervent belief is that the contextualism of the project conserves the progression of society and thereby reinforcing the context. progressing architecture rather than mediocre pastiche reflection, forming a contexutalism to both location and time.
